I am the co-owner of Bright Learners Academy (BLA).  I graduated from the University of Michigan with my Bachelors in General Studies with a minor in business.  I also played collegiate football on a full athletic scholarship at the University of Michigan.  After college, I played in the NFL for 6 years with the Houston Texans.  My dream, for our school, is that we are committed to producing high academic achievers.  I anticipate and expect a BLA alums to become future politicians or other high ranking officials, business owners, inventors, doctors, lawyers, educators, and other well respected leaders and citizens in our country and local communities.  Our foundational teaching will be the catalyst for their high achievement.  Because of BLA, I am excited about our future as a country.

Tashia Jamison

Owner/ Teacher 

I have been in education for 13 years.  I taught in HISD at Bruce ES in 5th ward.  I am trained and current in up-to-date techniques, methods, and systems to ensure mastery.  I am not only an Early Childhood (EC)-6th certified teacher, but I hold an English as a Second Language (ESL) certification too.  I am a 5th generation educator so education is in my blood.  I played collegiate basketball at the University of Michigan on a full athletic scholarship, where I received my bachelors in Sport Management and Communication.

Our Story

We met as student athletes at the University of Michigan in 2004.  We got married in 2009 and we have built our lives here in Houston, TX especially the Pearland community.  We have 5 beautiful children whom we love and adore.  Our children are a product of our school and they are high academic achievers as well.  While my husband was playing in the NFL, I became a teacher.  I fell in love with the pedagogy of teaching and never looked back.  I am a 5th generation educator so it is truly in my blood.  When my husband retired, we were approached about buying BLA who at the time had existed for 10 years.  We believed in their vision and mission so we were on board with making this tradition of excellence our own.  

BLA has been an academic juggernaut and a Pearland community staple for 18 years. All of our students that have graduated our program and matriculated into their respective school systems have soared academically, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum, pedagogy (science of teaching) methods, systems, and structure are bar none. These proven methods, that have been applied to our students, have laid the academic foundation proving advantageous to our student when entering elementary school. With these facts laid out, this academic school year 2025-2026, we will be transitioning from teaching in person to our online platform for the virtual academy. We will also be making our curriculum available for other centers and homeschool parents alike nation wide. has always been a trailblazer and accessibility is a game changer for so many. We can provide a top tier education for a fraction of the cost of preschool whether it’s from our virtual academy or buying the curriculum to teach your child yourself. We are able to share this gift with anyone who is interested in improving their child’s academic foundation before heading to elementary school. BLA will not only be offering curriculum for centers and homeschooling families, but we will be offering our expertise in training teachers and parents to master the pedagogy of teaching to serve their families and students in a greater capacity.
